Michael Robert Acker joined MRR in June 2000. After initially developing a successful insurance defense practice, Mike expanded his area of practice to include Plaintiff's personal injury. Mike presently handles both sides of auto accident, dog bite, slip and fall, and other personal injury litigation, giving him the ability to prepare his case with the firsthand knowledge of how his opponent is likely analyzing the other side.
Mike obtained his undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice and Criminology in 1993 from the University of Maryland. He prides himself as a "triple Terp" going on to receive his Juris Doctorate (JD) from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1997 and completing Masters degree coursework in Criminal Justice from University of Maryland College Park.
Upon receipt of his JD, Mike was admitted to the Pennsylvania bar and served as an Assistant District Attorney in Philadelphia. He subsequently obtained admission to the Maryland bar prior to starting his career with MRR. He has also successfully been admitted to the bar for the District of Columbia and West Virginia, and is presently an active member of the bar of each of these four jurisdictions.
Outside the office, Mike is happily married to his wife, Maria, and has two sons, Zack and Jackson. He enjoys distance running and mud/adventure runs- having completed numerous half-marathons, multiple full marathons, and an ultra-marathon- as well as CrossFit.
