Lusby, MD (July 11, 2023) – A 60-year-old woman has lost her life following a car crash that occurred in Lusby on Sunday evening, July 9.
At around 8:24 p.m., the Calvert County Sheriff’s Patrol Bureau responded to the scene of an automobile accident on Maryland State Route 4.
According to reports provided by the Sheriff’s Department, a 2003 Ford Focus was traveling south along Maryland State Route 4. As the vehicle approached the intersection of White Sands Drive, it collided with a 2013 Honda Accord.
The driver of the Honda, 60-year-old Denise Chaconas-Brown, was pronounced deceased at the scene as a result of her injuries.
The driver of the Ford, 33-year-old Heather Nicole Hugel, was injured in the crash. She was flown by Maryland State Patrol Troopers seven to an area trauma center for emergency treatment.
The incident is being investigated.
