Solomons, MD (October 27, 2023) – Two victims were flown to local hospitals for emergency care following a major crash that took place in St. Mary’s County on Wednesday afternoon.

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office and firefighters were called to the scene of the crash at around 3:30 p.m. on October 25.

According to reports provided by law enforcement, a head-on collision took place on the Thomas Johnson Bridge in Solomons during the afternoon hours. The involved vehicles both sustained significant front-end damage as a result of the crash.

Multiple people were trapped in the vehicles and had to be extricated. Two people were severely hurt in the accident. The two victims, identified as male patients, were transported by two MEDEVAC helicopters. One victim, a 59-year-old male, was transported to MedStar Washington Hospital Center for emergency treatment. The second victim, a 32-year-old male, was transported to George Washington University Hospital.

The incident is currently being investigated.
