Car Accidents in Maryland
Every year, tens of thousands of people are left injured as a result of automobile accidents that take place in the state of Maryland. Unfortunately, many of the accidents that we see take place on our roadways are preventable. There are several acts of negligence that continue to contribute to the high rate of collisions that we see on our roads.
One of the most common causes is speeding. When motorists are speeding, drivers are more likely to lose control of their vehicles. They are also likely to have a reduced reaction time when they encounter objects or other vehicles on the road.
Distractions are another common cause of crashes that we see here in Maryland quite often. Some of the leading distractions that cause accidents in our state include cell phone use. Whether talking on the phone, browsing the Internet, texting, eating food while operating a vehicle, or even changing the radio station, when people take their attention off the roadway, even for a brief moment, it can have disastrous consequences.
Other common causes of accidents that we see here in Maryland include drivers who fail to yield, drivers who run red lights, and drivers who are impaired. When innocent people are hurt as a result of accidents caused by the negligence of others, they often can take legal action against them.
