Abingdon, MD (September 12, 2023) – A crash involving two vehicles sent nearly a dozen victims to local hospitals with injuries on Monday morning, September 11.

At around 8:30 a.m., the Maryland State Police responded to the scene of an automobile accident that took place on Route 924, Emmorton Road.

According to reports, a KinderCare 15-passenger mini-bus and a second vehicle collided on the roadway near Bell air South Parkway. Investigations show that the bus was traveling north on the roadway while, at the same time, the second vehicle, identified as a Honda, was traveling south. The driver of the Honda attempted to make a left turn when it failed to yield the right-of-way to the bus, resulting in the two vehicles colliding.

Ten of the children on the bus were transported to the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake medical Center for emergency treatment of injuries. The driver of the Honda and their passenger, identified as a 1-year-old child, were both injured. The victims were transported to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, for medical care.

At this time, the incident is being investigated.
