Clarksburg, MD (September 9, 2023) – A garbage man lost his life after being fatally struck by a vehicle in Frederick County on Wednesday morning.
On September 6, the Maryland State Police responded to the scene of an automobile collision that took place on Green Valley Road.
According to official reports, 55-year-old José Gomes was driving a garbage truck on the roadway. As Gomez and his coworker got out of the truck to empty trash cans for residents in the area, a 2006 Subaru Outback, which was traveling north on Green Valley Road, struck Gomes.
The pedestrian was severely injured in the crash. Despite medical efforts, he was pronounced deceased as a result of his injuries.
The Maryland State Police Crash Team is currently conducting an investigation into the accident.
