Frederick County, MD (July 16, 2023) – Two people were left with significant injuries following a major motor vehicle accident that took place in Frederick County on Friday afternoon, July 14.
At around 1:30 p.m., troopers with the Maryland state police out of Frederick Barrick were dispatched to the scene of an automobile accident on Interstate 70. Reports show that a collision took place on the interstate near mile marker 65. As a result of the collision, a Ford Explorer went off the roadway and struck an embankment.
The impact of the collision caused the vehicle to overturn, trapping a total of six people inside.
Multiple firefighters rushed to the scene of the accident to assist. All of the victims were extricated from the vehicle.
A medical helicopter was requested at the scene to transport two victims to nearby medical facilities for emergency treatment. A child was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for further care.
The accident is being investigated by the police at this time.
