Laurel, MD (August 28, 2023) – A major crash reported in Prince George’s County on Saturday morning claimed one person’s life.
Just before 2:00 a.m. on August 26, the Prince George’s County Fire and Rescue assisted police at the scene of a crash that occurred in the 800 block of Kay Court.
According to law enforcement, a car crashed into a home located in the Cross Creek Apartment building. The impact of the crash caused part of the building to collapse.
One person became trapped under the car as it crashed into the structure. The victim was severely hurt in the accident. Authorities confirmed that he passed away from his injuries. He was identified by the police as 56-year-old Fredy Tenas Silva.
The driver of the car was seriously injured in the crash and transported to a local hospital for emergency care.
At this time, the crash is being investigated. Witness reports indicate that speeding may have been a factor based on ongoing issues in the area.
