Leonardtown, MD (July 26, 2023) – One person was airlifted from the scene of a major crash that occurred in the Leonardtown area on Tuesday, July 25.
At around 9:24 a.m., authorities were called to the site of the collision on Point Lookout Road.
Reports show that a box truck and a second vehicle collided on the roadway near Winters Lane. The incident caused one person to become trapped inside their vehicle. The incident prompted officials to shut down the roadway while working to remove the trapped victim.
The victim was extricated and briefly treated at the scene. MEDEVAC responded to a landing zone in the vicinity to transport the victim to a local hospital for emergency treatment.
Crews confirmed that it took approximately 25 minutes to remove the trapped victim and have them en-route for medical care.
At this time, investigations into the crash are underway. No other injuries were reported.
