Pedestrian Accidents in Maryland
Pedestrian accidents can be devastating. Unfortunately, thousands of people are injured as a result of these accidents every year in our state. Far too often, pedestrians are hurt in accidents as a result of negligent drivers. Leading factors include:
- Drivers Who Fail To Yield: When pedestrians are traveling in designated crosswalks and in various other locations, they have the right of way. If drivers fail to yield the right-of-way to them, they can strike them and cause significant injuries.
- Passing Stop Signs: Passing through a stop sign or a red light and an intersection can have serious consequences. Not only does it increase the risk that a person will strike another vehicle, but it can also lead to a pedestrian suffering serious injuries that affect their lives forever.
- Distractions: When drivers are not paying attention to their surroundings, they are likely to not to be able to see pedestrians in the area. As a result, there is an increased risk that they will strike them and cause severe harm.
