$6,116,000 jury's verdict for the surviving wife and father of a 28 year old man who died as a result of a pulmonary embolism. The jury held an emergency room physician and internist responsible for failing to diagnose and give life-saving medication to a man who initially presented to the emergency room with numerous signs and symptoms consistent with a pulmonary embolism. The emergency room physician listed pulmonary embolism in his differential diagnosis but did not obtain any objective testing to rule out the disease.
